Ecler sound system at Àltima Ronda de Dalt Funeral Home, Barcelona

Àltima Ronda de Dalt Funeral Home in Barcelona has upgraded its sound reinforcement infrastructure with a new Ecler-based audio system designed and installed by PROSOUND. The project covers two indoor ceremony halls and an extensive outdoor garden area, providing a consistent listening experience across all spaces.

From the outset, the system was designed to meet several key requirements: ensuring excellent speech intelligibility during ceremonies, maintaining uniform coverage throughout the venue, integrating discreetly into the architecture, and providing simple day-to-day operation for staff. In addition, the installation needed to support both independent and combined operation of the different areas depending on attendance requirements.

Optimized coverage in the Mediterrani Hall

The Mediterrani Hall features a longitudinal layout that required even sound distribution throughout the space while minimizing the number of visible loudspeakers.

To meet this challenge, six eMOTUS8OD loudspeakers in black finish were installed in a symmetrical configuration, with three units on each side of the room. Their wide dispersion characteristics provide consistent coverage across the entire hall, ensuring clear speech reproduction and balanced background music.

The system is powered by an AURA-2B600 amplifier, while microphone and music sources are managed through a SAMI-612 mixer, allowing straightforward operation during ceremonies.

Architectural integration in the Tibidabo Hall

In the venue's main ceremony space, Tibidabo Hall, the priority was to achieve uniform sound coverage while preserving the room's visual aesthetics.

The solution consists of twelve VIC-6 ceiling loudspeakers strategically distributed throughout the hall to ensure excellent speech intelligibility in all listening areas. The 100 V line configuration provides flexibility when adjusting levels and adapting the system to different occupancy scenarios.

To enhance music playback, two ultra-compact ARQISSB6Ti subwoofers were discreetly integrated near the altar area. Their compact dimensions provide additional low-frequency reinforcement without impacting the visual appearance of the space.

System amplification is handled by an AURA-4B600 amplifier, which powers both the main loudspeaker system and the low-frequency reinforcement.

Discreet sound coverage for outdoor areas

The outdoor section of the venue includes two covered terraces and a landscaped garden featuring extensive vegetation and a longitudinal pond. The challenge was to achieve uniform coverage while minimizing the visual impact of the audio system.

The covered terraces were equipped with VIC-8 loudspeakers in white finish, extending audio coverage whenever indoor and outdoor areas are used together. In the main garden, four ZEN-15 landscape loudspeakers with granite finish were selected for their ability to blend naturally into the surroundings while delivering consistent sound coverage throughout the outdoor pathways.

To further enhance coverage, two IG-108 units were concealed within the vegetation. Their 360-degree horizontal dispersion helps distribute sound evenly across open spaces while reducing localized hotspots and maintaining a minimal visual footprint.

Flexible system control

One of the project's key objectives was operational flexibility. The installation allows each hall to operate independently, extends audio coverage to the outdoor terraces when required, or combines all indoor and outdoor areas into a single unified system.

Signal routing is managed by a MIMO88SG digital matrix with eight inputs and eight outputs, providing complete control over the different audio zones. Daily operation is handled through a PULSO-6 wall panel featuring a 5.5-inch touchscreen, allowing staff to quickly select predefined operating modes through an intuitive user interface.

Result

The result is a versatile and scalable audio solution capable of adapting to different ceremony formats while maintaining a consistent listening experience throughout the venue. By combining dedicated indoor and outdoor loudspeaker systems with centralized control and signal management, the installation delivers excellent speech intelligibility, uniform coverage, and simplified operation for the staff of Àltima Ronda de Dalt Funeral Home.
